Stealth Is Not a Free Lunch

Sunday, March 6th, 2005

I found this little doodle in a bin of papers while I was digging around and doing my taxes. I need to really start drawing every day. I could be a lot better, not to mention that I’m probably missing out on a metric kiloton of fun.

I’ve tried to start at least a half dozen side comics or extra sites outside of DS but always seem to be a little too much of a perfectionist to get anywhere. My public challenge to myself is to post something interesting to Dumbrella every day & to encourage my fine compatriots to do the same. We email and read the news, therefore there is no excuse for not doing a little bit more stuff “on the record.”

Dümbrellå - the finest discount furniture

I’ve needed a new bookshelf for a while now, so instead of buying from the inaccurately named Gothic Cabinet Craft or resorting to the modern horror of those damn Swedes I decided to design one for myslef. I took my design to a local craftsman to do the woodwork (thanks George!) and a few months later and it’s finally done! Gentlemen… behold!

Here it is empty…
and here it is holding a bunch of my crap.

Magazines & Movie Stars

Saturday, March 5th, 2005

Yesterday was a pretty excellent day. I got coffee at my favorite shop & the gal who manages it recognized my “Bacon is a Vegetable” shirt. I also finally found a copy of The Comics Journal #266 which mentions John Allison & myself in their webcomics column, “Ctrl-Alt-Delete.” I had a pretty tough time finding a copy because it’s got a huge Brian Michael Bendis interview and it’s selling out a lot. It should be a relatively easy thing to have re-ordered if you are so inclined.

Honestly, I never thought I’d see the day where that particular magazine would be covering us web people, let alone reviewing us positively. This is more than a tiny bit vindicating.

Been meaning to set this up for a year. Thank heavens for nothing to do on a Friday night. Yes, we’re gonna make this more attractive.
