That Right Said Topato thing reminded me of how much every comic needs a dialogue search. It would make life so much easier, really. So, come on, people! Are we not as good as Sluggy? Sure we don't have a wigu.net or Wigu parties or any of that other stuff, but it's the quality, not the quantity!

edit. WHOA when i posted this, the icon was a thumbs up, but upon later observation it WAS SOME SMALL CHARACTER WHO I CAN'T MAKE OUT.

weird. i think SGR but also i'm an idiot.

that's funny how they (erm, rstevens?) deleted the thumbs up as opposed to thumbs down because we are so negative.

Am I doing something wrong here or is everyone getting that error? Just wondering, because you have me all curious with your mystery boxes of doom.

Waterhouse's Lady of Shalott is one of my favorite evers, too... awash with gothicky doom it is, aye.
top stuff!

quote:
And down the river's dim expanse
Like some bold seer in a trance,
Seeing all his own mischance -
With a glassy countenance
Did she look to Camelot.
And at the closing of the day
She loosed the chain, and down she lay;
The broad stream bore her far away,
The Lady of Shalott.

victorian art is the lushest.

as is Degas. his late (blue) period paintings are my favourite, but rather depressing as he was losing his eyesight in a big way by that time. :(

Look on the merch page.
I doubt the markey can support more than one photoshopped-Topato shirt this soon.

I am sad at Mario Paint pictures not loading. I am still using the Mario Paint mousepad...
it's nice because it's made of hard plastic, so I can hold it on my lap instead of leaving it on the desk.
But the other day I spilled plastic solvent on it and now it's got a little crescent-shaped irregularity the size of a quarter in its surface. How sad. And then I missed a chance to pick up a used but intact one for about three bucks at a Gamestop...

And does anyone really need the (?) icon?

The Ambassadors features a skull stretched in exactly that way.

The art history aspect of it is that the skull is distorted in an almost completely unrealistic way, yet is perfectly accurately painted. If you look at it from an oblique angle (ideally looking at it practically from the left edge), the skull looks almost normal, and it can be easily de-stretched in Photoshop to prove that it's accurate. It's practically a miracle of skill since the painting was done in 1533, when even the cameras obscura and lucida were rare.

The globes are also perfectly accurate, complete with itsy bitsy names and numbers. You can only see this when it's extremely magnified.

ah, yes, but his bronzes were stunning as well. his "petit danseur" with the tulle tutu and the ribbon in her hair really caused a fury, didn't it? of course, he did a few bronzes of topato, but, i believe they were lost during the war. pity.

I can NEVER get the skull thing to work out right with that painting, no matter how I tilt it. It's damned annoying. (And yes, I picked up my laptop and moved it just now to give it another try)

Stupid X!

OK, I made another one.

If you can't see that, the link to it is here. It's a U.S. Army ad parody.

Of course, it doesn't really work because it contradicts the current slogan. (The slogan's "An Army of One" instead of "Be All You Can Be".)But I like it anyways. . .

The link to the first one is here. It's a Star Wars Episode II parody.

Can someone tell me why my links don't work?

i second the motion. everytime i go to use it as my icon, i note how it could be better.

why don't we just have more, in general?
