I would vote for Bob's Iwo Jima and the Mario one as "Best in Show" so far.

But god damn if there aren't some bad-ass others up here too. The Van Gough ones are top notch, Stary night and the flowers.

IWO JIMA IS GOD.

My girlfriend even thinks it's good, which means something because SHE HATES EVERYTHING. Especially anything having to do with me.

She isn't really so much my "girlfriend" as my "moldering corpse of the 83 year old woman I stole from the nursing home three months ago."

Leif Ostlund's "Water Garden II" ala Topato.

OK, for real this time, after like 5 billion edits. My boyfriend is being a sweetie and hosting it for me, so if you still can't see it, try http://wopr.scooter.cx/images/ameliaamy/WaterGardenII_Topato.jpg

You can compare it to the original at http://wopr.scooter.cx/images/ameliaamy/WaterGardenII.jpg

For the record, I think this whole thread just ROCKS. I have "Ceci n'est pas une potato" on my desktop right now, and am seriously considering the T-shirt.

Asterphage, that's awesome. Did you redraw it using the strip as reference, or did you somehow magically enlarge it without pixelization?

Not magic but good software.
Adobe Photoshop is v. good at enlarging images. Especially when, like this one, they have very few colors.

Anglicub: Great job. The combination of Topato's near-bliss and the slack-jawed open gapes of everyone ready to bite him is absolutely hilarious, and earns you one gold star. You may redeem your gold star for five silver stars. The silver stars are completely worthless.

And I hesitated to post this for a while since it's technically not art, but since the precedent's been set here it goes:

Even after our flying yellow hero became the symbol of the victorious underdog, this fiendish haberdasher still tried to steal his newspaper!

Hey.. I've been reading this board for god knows how long, and it took THIS THREAD of joyous majesty to make me post.

Seriously, I should have done it anyway.. when you realize one day that you're actually feeling like things are slightly right with the world because certain people on a board you've never even posted a hello at were made moderators... that would be the time.

That is my somewhat long way of saying hello. Also here is a painting by Hokusai.

Apologies if its been done before, I tried to check back but a lot of them are showing as X's.

hold a sec while i fix the link oh crap

so there was this guy and he was walking along one day and it was a really nice day and there was sun and stuff and he was walking and things were fun and he was happy and he was walking and whistling a tune and things were good and it was sunny and he was walking and he saw a ball point pen on the ground and thought 'well that's just my luck because i am in need of a ball point pen' and he was about to pick up the ball point pen on a sunny day and then the ball point pen ate him.

I can't believe I neglected to mention how wonderfull all your pieces are. You are all very talented, wonderful people. I suck, I'm sorry.
Personally I think The Bob Talbot's 'Realism' one is the best so far, but thats just my personal opinion.
Anyway, face painting is sorta artsy...

Maybe she looks a bit uneasy because shes covered in poison.
(My friend is probably going to be upset about me killing his bandwidth, but... whatever.)
